Climbing The Corporate Ladder To No Where

I climbed the corporate ladder for 17 years. Started as a lowly systems programmer. Moved up the ladder until I was a Director of Product Development. I worked hard...long days, nights, weekends. A lot of good it did me.

One day, the company was sold. As soon as the ink was dry on the contract, the president of the company was escorted out the door. In the following 6 months, all VPs were let go. Next came the directors. I managed to last a year but, eventually, it was my turn.

17 years of hard work down the drain...and for what? In the end, no one cared that I spent time away from my family. No one cared that I had not had a vacation in years. No one cared that my labor had helped make the company what it was. No one cared...

Climbing the corporate ladder is for fools. Period. That is as blunt as I can make it.

Become an entrepreneur. It is the only true way to wealth and happiness.
